For Kids/Education
Watershed Management has partnered with the Anchorage Waterways Council to sponsor several programs and events to educate residents and improve watershed stewardship in Anchorage. Public events have included:
- “Scoop the Poop” campaign to reduce pet waste-derived fecal coliform levels in the waterways
- “Creeks as Classrooms” for students to learn about the science of life in the creeks
- Storm water newsletter and subsequent monitoring of behavior changes
- Tables at various sites with literature about garden runoff, car washing, and hazardous fluid disposal
- Creek Clean-up Days
- Bus advertisements
